This house just about re-invents the wheel. A unique property situated on a beautiful year round trout creek offered a possibility of a lake view. Just had to reach for the stars. After a couple years in design this 4 story 1750 sq/ft tower broke ground. The 1st floor has a mechanical room, ½ bath, stairs, ground level for the elevator, and outdoor covered parking for two. In true atypical fashion, the 2nd floor houses the master bedroom, spare bedroom, and a full master bathroom. The 3rd floor is an open floor plan with a living room, kitchen, and dinning room. A separate ½ bath services the 3rd floor common area. This upside down design has an elevator stop and a full flight of stairs on each level. Custom wood work using many different hardwood species coupled with stone, pebble tile, coffered wood ceilings, and cedar siding contribute hugely to this North Idaho rustic vernacular. Knowing that the higher one goes, the better the view, the house is capped with a ladder accessed cupola offering spectacular lake views from this charming level. A built in bunk bed and raised seating area offers a birds eye view in the canopy of this richly forested property. Using a series of “Atmospheric Source Heat Pumps” via Mini Split distribution and super insulation creates a home nearly passive solar heated and assisted with very low utility bills. The wood burning fireplace on the 3rd floor used less than a half cord of firewood during the first heating season.
